In the eastern strands of the Thunersee, in immediate nearness of the world-renowned resort interlaken, Beatus caves apply the Saint in the inside of the immense low horn-massif.
The imposing, in millions of years constructed physical miracles served, after the legend, in the 6-th century to the holy Beatus as a hermitage. As sure counts which was inhabited the Beatus-cave till early Middle Ages by hermits. From the 11-th century the hermitage became the electoral journey place.

Legend and history

Before many hundreds of years two odd men with long pilgrim's sticks came from the stranger to the area. Beatus and Justus called them. Everywhere on their way they told the person about Jesus Christ. Beatus and Justus found out from the inhabitants that an awful dragon did his dreadful state of affairs in the caves with Sundlauenen. The both decided to search the dragon and to distribute him. When they found out the next morning the dragon, Beatus to the horrific monster stretched courageously his cross against. After it the dragon fell hissing and hissing in the Thunersee and has disappeared since that time.
Beatus arranged with the caves where he had expelled the dragon, his dwelling to announce the glad message the people. From far the people with her worries came here to him and found help and mitigation. After his death the place became a famous pilgrimage site.
