Saint Petersinsel - strength place in the Bielersee
From the west a peninsula rises
in the Bielersee, which Saint Petersinsel. She originated during
the last ice age when the Rhone glacier reached up to the law. 
Today, after several body of water corrections, the moor way as
a natural bridge connects the Saint Petersinsel with the Jolimont
by Erlach.
The moor way pleases us already at the beginning with Erlach,
by his multiple vegetation. Pastures and alders count as the
typical trees along the way. One takes in the moor way already
before millennium was passable. Historical findings from the area
confirm this.
Also we find a huge number of animals on the Saint Petersinsel.
In the varied reeds scenery and in the water we hit on Blesshühner,
pipe buntings, mallards and many more.
Before we come on the main island, we reach the so-called island
Chüngeli or rabbit island. On this hill which counted earlier
than cult site and also even today a strength place is, rabbits
were settled in the modern times. Which one sees, however, seldom.

History
About 1127 a Kluniazenser cloister which served later than inn
was established on the island. There Jean-Jacques Rousseau lived
in 1765 during two months as an emigrant. “ At some one lovely
places stays I; however, I nowhere felt as really happy as on the
Saint Petersinsel in the midst of the Bielersees, I think back
to no stay with such sweet melancholy. ” (Rêveries
d'un promeneur solitaire).
